I was so looking forward to watching The Lake House when I was in Seoul, only to find out that they would premiere the day I was suppose to leave for home.
So, with much anticipation, I managed to grab hold of a copy of the video a month ago.
I watched. I was disappointed.
I was expecting so much, and I was left much disappointment.
Having watched Il Mare, The Lake House paled in comparison. although the cast was great, the pace and the location of the movie, and the feel of it left me with a lot of discomfort.
While Il Mare was romantic, the Lake House was dark.
While Il Mare was poignant, the Lake House was painful.
While the ending of the movie was so surreal, the Lake House's ending was unreal.
If you have not watched either movies, I would recommend that you watch Il Mare first, and THEN, decide if you'd want to see the American version.
