I had wanted to blog about this a LONG time ago. Finally doing it now.
My friend Eun Sook told me about LIP when she was teaching me Korean Language in 2005. I asked her "Why?". She said "Because it's nice". I said "But the hero is an ajosshi. Look at that. He's so short, and looked like my uncle". She said "just watch la. nice la". Yup! Eun Sook can also speak Singlish ^^.
So, I did. And I never looked back.
One reason why I succumbed to LIP was Lee Donggun, of course. I liked his character at the earlier parts of the drama. Carefree. Cheesecakey, smart, saying "이 안에 너 있다" aw.....

I loathed the later part when he dressed like a waiter.

But when he cried his heart out at the end of the drama, my heart cried out for him.

I suppose there are lots of memorable scenes in this drama that made it a classic.

I suppose there are lots of memorable scenes in this drama that made it a classic.
1. "애기야, 가자!" suddenly became an overnight phenomenon for dating couples.
2. "이 안에 너 있다" became the favourite 고백 style.
3. The piggy bank suddenly costs insanely expensive. And it's not even pink.
4. Ajosshis became more popular than long-haired chiseled-jaw, oppas.
5. Young girls, ajummas halmonis started calling their men "오빠.....오..오빠!"
and the list goes on and on.

Let's talk about Park Shin Yang.
I have a friend who has his "사랑해도 됄까요?" piano performance as her handphone wake-up alarm. The problem is, she usually lets the alarm go on and on to enjoy his voice, and refused to wake up. Ha Ha.
I won't go into the discussion and debate about the ending. It's too confusing and life is too short to worry about such trivialities. You can read about it here.
What I like about this drama is Park Shin Yang's character - He's firm, he's respectable, and he makes a really good chocolate brownie. I mean, when in the meeting room, he's tough. But when he's with Tae Young, he's a pig-carrying, piano-playing, ice-cream eating, pink-flowery-shirted, regular guy. Aw...

Can you name me another drama where the main guy is SO firm and unwavering? Hmm...let's see.....nope! can't think of any.
So there you go. If you have not watched this drama yet, shame on you! Get out of that couch and head to the nearest video shop ajumma and get yourself the DVD.
