I bet you have not heard of this one, right? Neither have I until the video shop ajumma told me about its existence.
Lots of ajosshis in this drama.
But apart from the lack of oppa factors in this drama, let's look at other facts about this 20-episode 2006 Summer drama:
1. The storyline is the usual "brave, strong-poor-girl" meets "cold-rich-poor-guy" under unusual circumstances , usually overseas, This time it's not Paris or Prague or Austria. But Saipan.....eh? where? S-A-I-P-A-N. Yup!
2. Yes, yes...someone is sick. It's a 7-year old boy. And he's got Tyrosinemias, which has led to a need to find a liver donor . L-I-V-E-R. Yup!
3. There are no romantic scenes at all. none. N-A-D-A. Yup! (Anyway, can you imagine an ajosshi and an ajumma in a romantic scene? Brrrr.........noooooooooo!!!!!
4. My favourite character in this drama is Grandma. She is so witty and funny. As usual, I have much admiration for 여운계 in whatever roles she played.
5. 윤영준 looked somewhat different in this drama. He either lost so much weight or he went under the knife. 몰라.. But he looked much better than the 2 leading men. That's for sure. His character , as usual , is the good side kick, much like in Lovers in Paris.
6. 김지영 reminded me so much of 정선희 & Patricia Mok. REALLY. No kidding. My daughter thought so to. Patricia is looking prettier these days - I think she is one of the most talented people in Mediacorp. Oh dear, I am digressing. Anyway, check out Patricia's blog.
7. Similar looking female characters- 강태영 & 진차연 had the same hairstyle and dress-styles , AND lived in the same attic house.
8. 박상민 (nope, not the singer, the actor) will NEVER be as cool as 박신양. N-E-V-E-R. 박신양 was Ajosshi Of The Year when LIP was aired. He became the instant "Must-Have" for all young agasshis and ajummas alike with his "애기야". Sadly, 박상민 failed to deliver the same cool cucumber persona that 기주 showed in LIP. He had his moments. But the moments came and went quite quickly.
9. It took 20 episodes for 호대 and 차연 to realise that they should finally say " 사랑해" to each other . And when they finally did, it was for 3 minutes, and the drama ended. Tsk tsk...
This drama gets 3 pop corns from me because it reminded me so much of LIP.
